What should I do if I'm having problems updating SunRise?
The Mac OSX operating system is constantly updated, adding new features and modules. Furthermore, the program doesn't know which OSX version is running on the user's computer. This can sometimes cause problems updating the latest SunRiseEn release.
Below are the most likely problem scenarios and what to do if they occur.
WARNING! ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR EXISTING DATABASE TO A SEPARATE FILE AND FOLDER BEFORE UPDATE OR REINSTALLING SUNRISE. To do this, click the "Backup..." button or use the button from the main menu: Utilities -> Database.
Scenario (A)
(1) SunRise has indicated a new update is available. (2) You launched it from within SunRise. (3) The program downloaded the update installation file, closed SunRise, started the installation, but did NOT complete the installation; instead, it interrupted and prevented you from continuing.
Solution for Scenario (A)
1. Open File Explorer.
2. Open the Applications folder.
3. Find the SunRiseEn folder.
4. Find the SR_Update_Pref folder.
5. Find the SunRiseUMen.pkg file and launch it to install the update.
6. The update installation will begin. Follow the steps of the installer.
7. The program will do the rest automatically.
8. Launch SunRiseEn and work as usual, but with the updated version.
Scenario (B)
No method will install the update for SunRiseEn.
Solution for Scenario (B)
1. Open the current version of SunRiseEn.
2. Back up your ENTIRE current database. For example, use the button from the main menu: Utilities -> Database.
3. Open File Explorer.
4. Open the Applications folder.
5. Find the SunRiseEn folder and delete it.
6. We recommend restarting your Mac at this point.
